Break It Down Into Daily To-Do Lists

Make Every Minute Count

Once you know what you should be working on, you should be good to take the next step -figuring out exactly what you need to do to get it done. Break the project down into baby steps. Is there anything you don’t know how to do? Decide if you’re going to outsource it or learn to do it yourself.

Take the steps you know you need to take and break them down if needed. Then add those tasks to your daily and weekly to-do lists. This step is important. Knowing what you need to do is great, but unless you set yourself a deadline, it’s not going to get done in an efficient manner. Remember, the goal is to make every minute you sit at your desk count.

How you keep your to-do list is again up to you. A little notepad and pen work just fine. You’ll also find some great free To-Do list apps out there. Remember the Milk is one that works well.

Get in the habit of making out your list for the next day before you call it quits. Your head is still in business mode and you know what you need to be working on tomorrow to make progress. Mark your money making tasks as urgent and work on those before you do anything else in the morning.

What are Money Making Tasks?

They are the things that make you money. For example, sending an email to your list with an affiliate offer would be a money making task. Another one that’s a bit more indirect would be to work on your next big product. Creating the content and guide for your new coaching program won’t make you money today, but it will as soon as you launch.

Starting with these types of hyper productive tasks sets the tone for your whole work day. You may just find the rest of it becoming much more productive and profitable as well. And even if things happen and don’t go as planned, you know you’ve at least gotten something done that will keep the lights on.

Get in the habit of making a daily to-do list.  Work hard to make sure everything on the list gets done.  Watch your productivity skyrocket. Even if you only have a couple of hours to work on your business, sitting down and working on tasks that will help you move forward makes a huge difference.

In fact, it helps to only have a limited amount of time to get something done. You’ve seen this yourself. If you have all day to write a report, it will take you all day (and then some), but if all you have is an hour before you have to head out to your kid’s baseball game, you buckle down and get it done in under 60 minutes.

You can use this to your advantage by challenging yourself to get things done quicker. For example, see if you can finish the blog post by 10:30 am. If you make it ahead of schedule, go grab a cup of coffee and the paper for a well-deserved break. Or move on to the next task and cut out early when everything on your list is done.
